s] The America Challenge
February 19, 2010 at 11:10 am , by Carol Cecilia
We (my hubby and I) are going to the U.S. this year, yiiippeee! We have booked our tickets and are now getting increasingly giddy about all the things we can and will do!
The challenge is in obtaining some extra dollars because I am sure I will want to do it all and more than likely buy it all too. So I want to supplement the fun with creative pocket money ideas.
So it’s on, I wanna see how much random money I can make in the next few months. I’m thinking market research, ebay, garage sale, design stuff, metal detector at the beach?!?
So I will keep a tally of ideas and dollars. Today is day one, I have made $0 but the day is not over yet…
Sneaky Valentine
February 4, 2010 at 9:36 am , by Carol Cecilia
Not sure what my thoughts are about Valentine’s Day. It’s become a little cool these days to say that V-Day has over-played its commercial hand in recent years.
But minus the hype I guess telling someone you think they are spunky can’t be all bad.
In light of the looming love fest I designed this postcard…
I call it Sneaky Love - you can buy it here if you like it.
Lomography Day
February 3, 2010 at 12:30 pm , by Carol Cecilia
Christmas presents are lovely, they are especially lovely when they are on back order and arrive in February! Suprise presents rock my world!
Today I pick up my Lomography camera from the post office – yipppe! If all goes well it should look like this…
I am hoping my new Lomography Diana camera will give me some sweet retro looking pics. Sure Photoshop can do it but where’s the fun in that.
Fun February here we go…
Flower Power
February 1, 2010 at 9:06 pm , by Carol Cecilia
The ballots have been collected, the verdict is in. The Ranunculus is my most favourite flower.
DesignSponge had a lovely post about them recently which totally sealed the deal. They pack so many petals you could be all ‘He loves me, he loves me not’ for hours.
What’s your favourite flower?
P.S. He loves you!

Project Lolly Bag
January 21, 2010 at 10:19 am , by Carol Cecilia
Lolly bags are fun, easy and can add a lovely touch to any party. I say any party cause seriously who would say no to a delightful bag of lollies - yum!
I recently made some for my lovely friend Kelly’s babyshower. This is how it went.
Step 1 Design tags for them (as per the invites), so they can double as place cards. Make sure all names are spelt correctly, check!
Step 2 Look at all the lollies!
Step 3 Evenly distribute lollies in bags – I used the old school tuck-shop brown paper bags. Then tie them up with string, add name tags and voila!
Binge Watching
January 12, 2010 at 2:08 pm , by Carol Cecilia
I heard someone use the term ‘binge watching’ today and I just love it! I totally binge watch all the time.
My husband and I just recently inhaled two seasons of Entourage. Not sure if I liked the show as much as I loved the fact that we had it on tap. Whenever we wanted we could just throw down an episode or two (or five).
I might forget the storylines and characters in the hangover aftermath afterwards but for that little season we were totally drunk on that show.
The time is over to have to wait for our quality television shows week after week littered with advertisements or wait until ratings season arrives. Just wait till the hype dies down and get the DVD boxset!
What will be your next binge?
What sort of ‘Slashie’ are you?
January 7, 2010 at 8:02 pm , by Carol Cecilia
I am a total sucker for newpaper supplements, not interested at all in reading the hard news but I just love the soft marshmallow stuff inside the papers. In todays Sydney Morning Herald’s Summer supplement there was a clever feature article called Tribes of Sydney.
The article takes a look at the evolution of different clicks – where people are placed socially in 2010. Analysing their club or stereotype of choice with a nice little theory on the ’slashie’ phenomenon. The fact that we can be all things in any given moment. You know, label me but just don’t use permanent marker.
So I guess today I’d say I’m a Graphic Designer-slash-Publications Exec-slash-Creative Mind-slash-Film Junkie. But that’s just today, who knows what it will be next week.
What sort of ‘Slashie’ are you?
A day to begin…
January 5, 2010 at 4:06 pm , by Carol Cecilia
Today seemed like a perfectly fine day to begin. Like most other days but with a little bit more oomph.
At this time of year it seems only fair to start with those little (or big, depending on how much importance you place on them) things called goals, resolutions, you know the eye on the prize stuff.
As I can’t seem to muster much excitement about the big picture stuff at the moment here are a few things that would be just delightful to achieve in the next little while… What are yours?
1. A lovely place to create
2. More alone time with my Creator
3. More celebrating with family and friends
